  18.        The following problem occurs in ov:  The Ctrl+H accelerator
  19.        to hide the application menubar doesn't work.  To work
  20.        around this, use the mouse pointer to select the Overview
  21.        menu then the Hide Menubar item.

  27.        The following problem occurs in iconcatalog:  When the
  28.        language is changed in ipanel, and the user logs out and
  29.        logs back in, the icons in the iconcatalog may appear tiny.
  30.        To work around this, use the iconcatalog thumbwheel to scale
  31.        the icons back to desired size.  (Iconcatalog is accessible
  32.        from the Find toolchest, as Icon Catalog, or as any of its
  33.        individual pages [ex., Applications].)

  40.        The following problems occur in the file manager:

  42.        1. In IRIX 6.5.10, the Content Viewer in iconviews does not
  43.        display HTML pages with embedded VRML content, because it is
  44.        incompatible with the version of cosmoplayer in 6.5.10.  If
  45.        you attempt to display embedded VRML content, the file
  46.        manager will crash.  To work around this, open the HTML page
  47.        into your favorite Web browser (ex., Netscape) instead.  If
  48.        file manager crashes, restart it by typing "fm -b" at a
  49.        shell prompt.
  50.  
  51.        2. When the language is changed in ipanel, and the user logs
  52.        out and logs back in, the icons on the background and in
  53.        iconviews (dirviews, URLviews, or FTPviews) may appear tiny.
  54.        To work around this, use the thumbwheel to scale icons back
  55.        to the desired size.  For iconviews, use the thumbwheel
  56.        located on the left side of the iconview window.  For the
  57.        desktop, use the thumbwheel on the Desktop customization
  58.        panel launched from the Desktop Customize toolchest.

  74.        3. If you get icons with no pictures, you need to become
  75.        root, cd to /_u_s_r/_l_i_b/_f_i_l_e_t_y_p_e, and run make.

  77.        4. The file manager fails to move or copy (drag and drop)
  78.        onto a ddddoooossss media, any files whose mode of access is greater
  79.        than 0777 (see _c_h_m_o_d(_1)).  For example, you cannot copy a
  80.        file with 04755 (set user ID) access mode permissions, onto
  81.        a dos-formatted media from the file manager.  To work around
  82.        this problem, change the file's access mode to less than or
  83.        equal to 0777 (see _c_h_m_o_d(_1)).

  87.        5.4  _M_e_d_i_a_M_a_i_l

  90.        The following problem occurs when using MediaMail for IRIX
  91.        6.2 on an IRIX 6.3, 6.4, or 6.5 system:  MediaMail will
  92.        complain that it cannot find the colors OOOOzzzzCCCCllllttttnnnnPPPPaaaannnneeeellllCCCCoooolllloooorrrr or
  93.        OOOOzzzzRRRReeeeaaaaddddOOOOnnnnllllyyyyCCCCoooolllloooorrrr, which are obsolete in IRIX 6.3 and later
  94.        releases. To silence these complaints, edit your
  95.        $_H_O_M_E/._S_g_i_r_e_s_o_u_r_c_e_s file and add this line:

  106.        colors in the file, and change OOOOzzzz to IIIImmmmdddd.  Relaunch
  107.        MediaMail to see the changes.

  111.        5.5  _T_o_o_l_c_h_e_s_t

  114.        The following problems occur in the toolchest:

  116.        1. When running a remote toolchest, the menu items under
  117.        Find Icon Catalog are all local entries. The programs do not
  118.        run on the remote system.
  119.  
  120.        2. When trying to use the Internet toolchest to Browse
  121.        OutBox Page, it's possible to get an error from your Web
  122.        browser.  This can occur if your local host does not have a
  123.        Web server installed, or if its Web server is not running.

  140.        If this happens, you can see if you have the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k

  142.        shell window.  If no subsystems are listed, then you need to
  143.        install (as root) the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k product from your IRIX
  144.        Applications CD. You may also want to install the _n_s__a_d_m_i_n
  145.        product, which is used to configure the FastTrack server.
  146.        You can use the graphical Software Manager tool _s_w_m_g_r(_1_M) to
  147.        do this.

  149.        If you already have the _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k product installed, then
  150.        you can check if the FastTrack server is running by typing
  151.        ppppssss ----eeeeffff |||| ggggrrrreeeepppp hhhhttttttttppppdddd in a shell window. If you see nothing
  152.        listed, or if you see only output with the string "/usr/ns-
  153.        home/httpd-2077/config", then your default Web server may
  154.        not be running. To restart it, type (as root)

  157.        You may want the Web server to start automatically each time
  158.        the host is rebooted. You can check if it is already
  159.        configured for automatic restart by typing cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg and
  160.        looking for the _n_s__a_d_m_i_n and _n_s__f_a_s_t_t_r_a_c_k lines.  If the
  161.        status is _o_f_f then the server will not run automatically
  162.        upon reboot. To change this configuration, type cccchhhhkkkkccccoooonnnnffffiiiigggg

  175.        Search Tool features are no longer available in IRIX 6.3,
  176.        6.4 or 6.5. There are no right-mouse menu, no Selected menu,
  177.        and no searching for people, hosts, or devices.  (The Search

  179.        Files.)

  209.        displaying them on your local system.  To fix this problem,
  210.        simply edit the panelsession file in your favorite text
  211.        editor and delete the "export test=1" line.

  213.        2.  System and Desktop Sound (dtSounds): If soundscheme is
  214.        not running, toggling on _D_e_s_k_t_o_p _S_o_u_n_d_s will have no effect.

  220.        5.8  _O_u_t_p_u_t__M_a_n_a_g_e_r

  224.        (outputd):  Killing _o_u_t_p_u_t_d will cause any application that
  225.        was launched while _o_u_t_p_u_t_d was running to die if it tries to
  226.        produce any output.  (The Output Manager is controlled from
  227.        the Desktop > Customize > Desktop > Display Application
  228.        Errors toggle.)
